MIPI CSI-2: for embedded integration

MIPI (Mobile Industry Processor Interface) is the standard for camera modules inside smartphones, tablets and embedded devices. The sensor connects directly to the SoC's ISP (Image Signal Processor) via a flat flex cable (FFC/FPC).

USB (UVC): for external and industrial cameras

USB with UVC (USB Video Class) is the standard for external cameras — webcams, industrial cameras, kiosks, medical devices and conferencing systems. The module handles its own ISP processing and outputs compressed (MJPEG) or uncompressed (YUY2) video over USB.

Real-world example: A video conferencing system typically uses a USB camera module (4K, IMX415, UVC) because the camera is 1-3 meters from the host PC and must work without drivers.
